A homoeopathic paediatrician, a counselling expert and a freelance writer are a few words to describe my profession. My sole aim is to put forth practical piece of information that guides every one right in the direction, blending the medicos to a layman with a simple gesture to make the medical things a little less convoluted and comprehendible.
Do we eat to live or live to eat is the question largely making circles around. Why? The food is eaten more with the intent of satisfying the taste buds rather than to fulfill the nutritional requirement of the body. The junk foods although taste good, do not satisfy your body’s essential needs and hence you always feel hungry and end up eating in excess whereas when you eat the right kind of nutritional food you feel satisfied and full.
Some of the tips mentioned here can show you the disciplined way towards effective nutritional eating:
Eat natural
Try to eat natural food as much as possible with less use of processed and packaged food. Eat more fresh vegetable and fruits raw instead of overcooked meals. Try to eat a fruit rather than drinking its juice. Since natural food consists of lot of fibers and complex carbohydrates, it makes you feel fuller and for a longer time. Natural foods are anytime more nutritious than the process and packaged food which are only made up of empty calories. Raw and natural food needs more chewing activity due to which you indulge in it more which registers a feeling of satiety in your brain.
Choosing bulky water rich foods
Bulky and water rich foods like water melon, grapes make you feel fuller very quickly and this feeling of fullness lasts longer. If you have the option of choosing between raisins and grapes, go for grapes, as they are water rich as well as give good amount of fiber and needs lot of chewing. You can also eat crunchy salads and seeded fruits which complement the nutritional needs of body.
Drink water regularly
Always drink water before you are feeling thirsty. Drink at least 8 to 12 full glasses of water every day and couple of glasses before every meal. Water aids in good absorption of nutritional content of the food by regulating proper metabolism.
Divide your food
The nutritional requirements of your body ranges from carbohydrates, fats, starch, proteins, vitamins, minerals and other micro nutrients which are present scattered in different types of food. So include multiple ranges of food choices in your intake regularly. Go for leafy vegetables, starchy and fibrous fruits, wheat and other cereals for carbohydrates and proteins, nuts for various vitamins and minerals and similar different food.
Do not drink, eat it
Although soups and juices are healthy for our health, it is always better to eat vegetables in their original form as they give more fiber to our body and make your stomach full, thereby restricting indulgence in over eating. Also the peel or the skin of some vegetables and fruits contain flavanoids which are rich in many minerals. By extracting juice, or cooking vegetable some micronutrients are killed or thrown away which really does not completely fulfill the purpose of eating these fruits and vegetables.
Eat with concentration
Enjoy your meal and savor the taste of every dish. Do not feed your stomach hurriedly or while watching television. Instead let your brain register the feeling of satiety as this will help your body feel satisfied and full.
